Authentic came to John Madden Sales as a five year old and became arguably the most winning horse in the history of JMS. Authentic was nicknamed "Bud" because of former owner, Mrs. Elizabeth Burke's connection to Budweiser.

Authentic was retired from competition in 2009 in a ceremony at the New Albany Classic. He now spends his time babysitting the weanlings and yearlings at JMS. He still loves visits from fans and especially loves posing for photo ops.
